The Impetuous Generals

Wen Cuijun is a lady from the state of Chu.  Her father is a renowned general but is imprisoned due to groundless accusation.  Following the advice from her father, she escapes to the state of Qi, and seeks protection from government official Xiao Ming whose daughter Yue E is a born beauty.  Liu Xiaotian and his cousin Chou Shangyi both adore Cuijun while Yue E loves Xiaotian.  Luo Wenlong of the state of Chu disguises himself as a scholar and makes friends with Shangyi so as to spy on the state of Qi.

The state of Chu and Qi wage war against each other at the Mid-autumn Festival.  Shangyi joins the army and Xiaotian shows his love to Cuijun.  Not knowing that Xiaotian and Cuijun are lovers, Yue E still falls in love with Xiaotian.  Xiaotian makes Yue E drunk and then goes away in haste, leaving a paper fan behind.  The drunken Yue E spends the night with Wenlong and mistakes him for Xiaotian.  Cuijun learns about that and hates Xiaotian.

The Silver Dragon & the Golden Phoenix

Qiao Danfeng is a woman who is not only beautiful, but also well-studied in medicine, literature and martial arts.  Living across from her is a quack doctor Dai Sangu.  Not a day passes without the two bickering with each over one thing or another.  When Zhang Zhongchi, an aristocrat from Huainan puts up a notice looking for his long-lost mother, the covetous Dai Sangu audaciously claims to be her.

Although Zhang Zhongchi is betrothed to Sima Jiaotong at birth, longtime animosity between him and his future brother-in-law has prevented them from consummating their vows.  When Zhang finally makes a wedding proposal, Sima Jiaotong is less than thrilled.  Since she is actually in love with a noble squire, she turns to her friend Qiao Danfeng for help.  Qiao agrees to turn up at the rendezvous with Zhang, pretending to be Sima.  Despite her plans to be so unpleasant that Zhang will break up the engagement, it is love at first sight for both.

Unfortunately, there is someone who knows Qiao is an imposter - her archenemy Dai Sangu.  Though she dearly wants to reveal this scam, she is hampered by her own false identity.  A series of mad scuffles ensue as the two try to get at each other while keeping up appearances for their own interests.  After a series of events, Danfeng and Zhongchi finally get married.

One day, Danfeng encounters Jincheng when hunting eagles and they fall in love with each other.  They exchange two arrows, one made of gold and the other silver, as tokens of engagement.  Unfortunately, the empress dowager wants her nephew Jinting to marry Danfeng while the minister wants his daughter to marry a prince from the state of Shu.  Danfeng sends a message to Jincheng arranging a rendezvous during the third watch, but Cailuan intercepts the message, changing the meeting time to the second watch.  Jincheng departs in haste, leaving the silver arrow behind him, while Cailuan gets drunk and spends the night with the Jinting.

Having ascended to the throne, Danfeng wants to make Jincheng her husband.  The three princes quarrel endlessly, each wanting to marry the empress.  Presenting the silver arrow, Cailuan arrives before the three and claims that Jincheng has slept with her.  Infuriated by the confusion, all parties concerned return to their own country and start a war.  Defeated and wounded, Danfeng returns to her palace with the intention of committing suicide after she confronts Jincheng about his betrayal.  Eventually they clear up the misunderstanding about the rendezvous and forget all past grudges.  The minister finally arrives to reveal the identities of the sisters.  Jincheng ends up marrying Danfeng and Cailuan marries Jinting.
