Cheung Tat’s daughter, Cheung Ah-bo, is repeatedly beaten and abused by her stepmother, Yeung Pik-chun. Cheung Tat gets thrown into an old well when he walks in on Yeung cheating on him with the sorcerer, Chow Kam. Fortunately, the ghost of his deceased wife appears before Ah-bo and directs her to save her father. Inside the old well are monsters, and Ah-bo finds a Magic Cup, which allows her to summon a genie who can cast spells. The Princess of Po Ling is tired of life in the palace and escapes to live among the commoners. She happens to meet Cheung Tat; the two fall in love and pledge to be together forever. Back in the Kingdom of Po Ling, the King is alarmed by the long disappearance of Princess and offers a reward to find her. Chow Kam discovers the whereabouts of Princess, and reports Cheung to the King, accusing him of harbouring the Princess. The King wants to behead Cheung, so Ah-bo asks the genie to cast a spell on the King so he would make her father the prince consort. Chow Kam steals the Magic Cup in a scheme to revenge on Cheung. Luckily, Ah-bo manages to get back the Magic Cup and saves all those in danger. But since the secret of the genie has been revealed, Ah-bo has no choice but to melt the cup and bids farewell to the genie forever.
