Talks on Cantonese Opera Libretti and Scripts – From Texts to Performance

The series of six talks aims at enhancing the audience’s understanding of the libretti of Cantonese Opera.  Renowned stars of Cantonese Opera have been invited to share their experience in performing and interpreting the libretti of various productions, including The Reincarnation of The Red Plum, The Legend of the Purple Hairpin, Princess Changping, Snow in June, The Nymph of Luo River, The Reunion by a White Hare, The Peony Pavilion by Tong Tik-sang as well as works by other playwrights.

The running time of each session is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Free Admission. Limited seats available on a first-come, first-served basis.

 

For those who wish to learn more about the libretti, they are welcome to stay behind to visit the Cantonese Opera Education and Information Centre, where they will be guided by docents to visit the centre and see the digitised versions of the libretti in its collection.  The free guided tour lasts approximately 1 hour.
