As we know it today, Causeway Bay, or literally 'Gong Bay', is always hustling and bustling; yet, it was once a tranquil bay in the shape of gong.
As we know it today, Lin Fa Temple is surrounded by heavy traffic; yet, it was once a lonely coastal architecture.
As we know it today, Tai Hang is home to numerous luxurious apartments; yet, it was a rustic agricultural village some 100 years ago.
As we know it today, Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance is listed on the national list of intangible cultural heritage; yet, it originated from a legendary tale that took place 137 years ago.
Our ancestors were ordinary but great people. Their veins were filled with the unflinching courage and perseverance and of the Chinese nation.
They dared to pursue their dreams; they understood happiness must be earned with their own hands.
They stood bravely in front of adversity; they stepped forward when fierce beasts and disasters hit.
They confronted plagues; they spared no effort in identifying life-saving solutions.
They embraced victory but never forgot about the legacy passed down the generations with the burning of incense in the temple.
The fire-dragon is a symbol of fire. In the blink of an eye, in the shadows of burning fire, our national spirit sublimes. The baptism of fire breaks through every barrier and rises into the air.

Found in 1992, the Association of Hong Kong Dance Organisations is a charitable arts group. Over the past 24 years, the membership of the Association has grown to more than 140 groups and 20000 individuals. As one of the largest organisations in Hong Kong's dance community, the Association not only has many long-established dance group members, its supporters can also be found across Hong Kong. The directors of the member organisations are mostly veteran dancers and teachers, who have significant contribution to the Hong Kong dance development.
The objective of the Association is to establish close contact with local dance groups, to actively promote and cultivate the dance industry, and to facilitate cultural exchange and collaboration with other art groups in Hong Kong, Mainland and overseas. It also strives to create dance works and to develop the local culture, with a special focus on the creation and performance of large-scale dance productions. Thanks to the support of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and the public, seven grand dance poems have been staged since 1998.
Presented by the Provisional Urban Council in 1998 at the Grand Theatre of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Fragrance – A Dance Poem of Hong Kong was the first large-scale dance production staged by the Association. Unfolding the development of Hong Kong over the last century, the dance poem was jointly created by some ten local choreographers and performed by more than 400 performers. The music was written by the late composer Ip Shun Chi and recorded by the National Ballet of China Symphony Orchestra. Since then, the Association has produced a number of large-scale dance poems highly acclaimed by the society, local and international experts and scholars, including Igniting Hearts - Legend of the Orient (2000); The Golden Silk Road (2004); Our Home, Our Story (2006), The Trace of Migrators (2009); My Homeland (2010) and The Great River (2013), bringing us touching and enlightening stories, injecting new nutrients to Hong Kong's dance culture and contributing to a new look of the local dance scene.
