The Past of Shawan is a full-length original dance drama taking place in the ancient town of Shawan in Guangdong during the 1930s. Modelled from the Guangdong musicians 'the three eminent He brothers', the work revolves around the spirit passing down by generations in the classical composition Dragon Boat Racing in which dance element is deployed to unfold the development of a legendary tale. Lyrical and lively dance segments are employed to present a love story of classic Guangdong music. An enthusing topic, a novel story-telling format, fluid dance performances, exquisite choreography, heart-warming musical classics and a poetic stage come together to bring the audience a splendid and inspiring Guangdong music epic.
