‘A Sensational Performer.’

‘What a powerhouse, what an artist, what a dancer!’
Daily Express
Shall we need conflict to create?
Where is the beginning and where we are?
Is it necessary to leave a mark when we create?
Do we feel invisible if we do not create?
Who are we when the curtain rises?

Apariencias
Flamenco super star, Eva Yerbabuena, makes a welcome return with her striking new show, Apariencias. Accompanied by distinguished dancers and her excellent ensemble of musicians, including African guest singer Alana Sinkey, Yerbabuena delivers an unforgettable tour de force performance. Famed for her speed, power and dramatic footwork and mixing the traditional flamenco forms with her own inimitable style, she has been one of Spain’s leading dancers for over a decade.
Apariencias is a melting pot inspired by impressionism, it is the result of deep reflection where nothing is what it seems to be. Influenced by the most legitimate, pure and classical flamenco, Yerbabuena takes off on a journey that goes from complexity to simplicity through a passionate landscape where dance, music, voices, lights and words help the artist divest herself of everything that binds her. Sight divests of the eyes; art divests of the artists.
Like some types of poetry, Apariencias is not about understanding, but about feeling, confronting and living without appearances. Eva Yerbabuena believes that there is nothing more contemporary than flamenco. Ties are needed so that not to lose ourselves enjoying such freedom.
Audiences aged 6 and above are welcome.
The running time of each performance is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes without intermission.
Audience is strongly advised to arrive punctually. Latecomers and audiences who leave their seats during the performance will only be admitted to their own seats at a suitable break.
One of the world’s greatest flamenco dancers, Eva Yerbabuena and her company artfully unite the grand spectacle of flamenco tradition with Eva’s fresh choreography, taking the art form in new directions.
Born in Frankfurt in 1970, Yerbabuena returned to her parent’s homeland, Granada, Spain when she was just two weeks old.
She formed her company in 1998 and since then has choreographed a long list of award-winning shows: Eva, Five Women Five, The Voice of Silence, Four Voices, The Spindle of Memory, Rain, When I was…, Federico according to Lorca, AY! and Apariencias.
