Dance Day 2017 will be the 8th Dance Day.  The main theme of this year is 'No Boundary'.  Dancers would unveil their adventurous spirit, desire for breakthrough and pull down the wall between audiences and dancers. 

Similar to previous Dance Days, Dance Day 2017 will showcase different generations of local dance talents.  Veteran and emerging dance artists, professional and amateur dance groups as well as local organizations serving the physically handicapped and able-bodied will join hands with different social groups to give a wide variety of delightful and exhilarating dance performances and activities at Tuen Mun Town Hall and Tuen Mun Cultural Square.   Renowned local choreographer/ dancer, Andy Wong is invited to be the Event Advisor for Dance Day.

Moreover, participatory activities such as workshops and exhibitions will be organized.  There will also be the 'U Can Dance!' Free Dancing Zone where everyone is welcome to join in and enjoy the fun of dancing.

Tickets for the workshop will be distributed free of charge at the General Information Counter at 12:30 p.m. on Dance Day on a first-come-first-served basis.

“DADADADA.DA” Site-Specific Dance Video Workshop

Perhaps everyone is familiar with "environmental dance".  Would it be more interesting to show a clip with a "dance video"?

Unlock Dancing Plaza brings “DADADADA.DA” Site-Specific Dance Video Workshop for the dance day 2017.  Participants first learn simple and interesting dance moves in the workshop, and then choose the dancing location outside Tuen Mun Town Hall to create this unique environment dance video!

The workshop was developed by Japanese art group Namstrops and Professor Rumiko Takahashi from the University of Miyazaki. Unlock Dancing Plaza; Namstrops and the University of Miyazaki are cooperating to launch a series of Hong Kong dance education research and development.

Age: 6 years old or above

Quota for participants: 18 (first-come-first-served)

The participants do not need to have a dance training background.

Cultural Activities Hall

Passoverdance, DancingAngels and Unlock Dancing Plaza will demonstrate the creative and rehearsal processes in their presentations. Each session lasts around 1 hour.

13:30-17:00

Apart from the participation from various professional dance groups and dancers, an indoor free dancing zone 'U Can Dance!' will be designated to the public to perform all kinds of dance.
 

Programme Details

The designated performing area is approximately 4 metres (depth) x 6 metres (width) with marley.

Different forms of dance performance are welcome.  For each session, number of performers can range from one to ten, and the length of each performance should be at a maximum of 10 minutes.

Veteran dance artists Andy Wong choreographs a dance made up of simple steps.  At hourly intervals, instructors from DancingAngels will teach this dance at the Main Stage.  All are welcome to learn and participate in dance finale of the Dance Day.

Dancers will perform site-specific dances at different spots at Tuen Mun Cultural Square.  Audiences can interact closely with the dancers.
