ONYX by Hoi Chiu and Patrick Ng 【Online Programme】

ONYX is a story about a young girl, Bella, and her father.  Bella is eagerly awaiting her father’s return from the sea for her sixth birthday celebration.  Night falls, and a storm is coming in, but her father still hasn't returned.  Growing anxious, Bella decides to wait by the sea, but gets swept into the raging waters by a huge wave.  As she sinks into the depths of the ocean, the necklace with the amulet ONYX given to Bella by her father transforms into a giant bird and saves her.  Carrying Bella on its back, it ventures deep into the depths of the sea in search of her father’s sunken boat, and brings them back home safely.

Episode 1: A Long Wait (Available from 11 June) 

The young Bella prepares a cake for her own birthday celebration and waits for her father to return from the sea.  A storm is coming in, and Bella decides to wait by the ocean.  The crashing waves beckon to her.

Episode 2: The Mysterious ONYX (Available from 18 June)

As Bella sinks into the sea, the necklace with the amulet ONYX made by Bella’s father transforms into a giant bird and swoops towards her.  It takes her onto its back and flies towards the surface of the sea.

Episode 3: Awakening in Love (Available from 25 June)

Bella orders the black bird to plunge back into the angry waters in search of her father’s sunken boat, and they find him in grave danger.
