Interactive Theatre for Children and Families
Sift the flour, beat the eggs, add the butter, sprinkle sugar… now, Bake!
Bake! is Curley’s first piece as an independent theatre artist, opened at The Ark, Ireland's National Cultural Centre for Children in August 2014. This is a story about the Baker and his Daughter, and the Queen and her Son; a brand new tale of recipes, revenge and revolution. It is Prince Fredrik's 9th birthday, but who will bake the royal birthday cake? As things heat up in the busy basement kitchen of the Queen’s palace, the young apprentice baker Madeleine attempts to prove herself to her Father.
Bake! is an interactive theatre for children and families. Some children audiences will be invited to build simple cake structure as the story unfolds. Bake! is an exciting participatory experience that relies on the intuitions and impulses of its audience. Get stuck in, but be warned, things could get messy!
Performed in English with simple Cantonese interpretation
Audiences aged 3 and above are welcome (best for aged 4 to 6)
The running time of each performance is approximately 40 minutes without intermission.
Free seating. Children audience may be seated on the floor for the interactive part. Comfortable clothing and shoes are recommended.
