It’s a classical and percussion crossover bash, folks! Come and join in! Rearranged by the local percussionist Anna Fan on percussion instruments including marimba, vibraphone, drum set, timpani, electronic mallet percussion instruments, Brazilian surdo and African boba, popular classics are energized with percussive beats in the concert. From pop to heart-throbbing samba, then to African music with its crisp rhythm and beat, bringing a brand new musical experience to the audience by a cohort of young percussionists.

Since Anna Fan’s return from Boston in 2010, she has been widely accepted in the Hong Kong music scene. She has played in music festivals all over the world, and she is also very active in the Hong Kong music scene, having performed with Laura Fygi, Eason Chan, Sammi Cheng, Hacken Lee, etc. Fan is the composer and percussion advisor for highly acclaimed ‘Detention’ by Tang Shu-Wing Theatre Studio since 2012.
Apart from being the drummer of jazz quartet maRK, Fan is also a TV show host for RTHK Channel 31 ‘Indie Music’, a 10-episode series on Hong Kong’s indie music scene.
Fan founded PE LAB (Percussion Ensemble LAB), fusing pop music, jazz, Broadway musical style, exploring the possibilities, and passing down the percussion art form. Fan is also the creative director, composer, arranger, leader, lead singer of [dǎ jiān], and FANtastic Line, pushing the boundary of percussion music and jazz culture.
Chau Chin-tung (Percussion)
Chau Chin-tung is Principal Percussion of the Hong Kong Sinfonietta and Curator of Lo Tung Lo Percussion Group.
Chau is frequently invited to take part in various cultural performances. He was commissioned by the Hong Kong Arts Festival to contribute in the creation of the dance drama Boombastic Verses in 1999. He performed in The Music of the Dragons Concert celebrating the 5th Anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2002, and in the Majestic Drums series of the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra in 2004-2007 and 2012. In 2010, he was the solo performer in Tan Dun’s Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon concert with the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra.
Past overseas performances included a guest appearance at the 2001 Cannes Film Festival, and the European première and South America touring performances of Ng Cheuk-yin’s White with the Hong Kong Sinfonietta in 2004 and 2010 respectively.
Joey Wong (Percussion)
Wong Cho-yee, Joey started learning percussion under the tutelage of Mandy Lo in secondary school with school band training. Wong graduated from Hong Kong Baptist University with the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Music Studies. In the academic years, she studied percussion with Sophia Woo.
Wong is passionate in ensemble music, she had been appointed as the percussionist of Hong Kong Performers Winds, Musicphilic Winds, Hong Kong Baptist University Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Baptist University Percussion ensemble and Hong Kong Symphonic Winds. She was invited to be a guest percussion soloist in Hong Kong Baptist University Percussion Ensemble annual concert 2014. She was also a musician at Becky Lee Sing Dream Come True concert 2014 and Sammi Cheng FOLLOWMI World Tour HK 2019 respectively.
From 2008 to 2017, Wong touring to Netherland, Taiwan and Macau to take part the festival and exchange activities with local musicians. In 2013 and 2017, she participated the World Music Contest with Hong Kong Symphonic Winds in Netherland and won the gold medal.
Raymond Vong (Percussion)
Winner in Percussion at the Macao Young Musicians Competition in 2004, Raymond Vong holds a Bachelor of Music (Honours) degree and a Master degree in Music with distinction at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA). He studied percussion under Alan Cumberland, Woo Shuk-fai, Aziz D. Barnard Luce, Shuan Tilburg and Harmen Cnossen. Since 2013, he has been the principal percussionist of the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong.
In 2010, Vong formed a percussion duo RE‧MIX with Emily Cheng. The duo has performed in Hong Kong and Macau playing recitals and as soloists with orchestras with high critical acclaim. He has participated in numerous music festivals around the world. As an orchestral musician, he has been regularly invited performing with The Macao Orchestra, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, the Hong Kong Sinfonietta and the North Carolina Orchestra in the USA. In March 2015 he undertook a European tour with Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Jaap Van Zweden. He was selected as an “Bravo Macao!” Artist at the 32rd Macao International Music Festival in 2018.
Wu Tin-lap (Percussion)
Wu Tin-lap, Jonathan is graduated in Bachelor of Arts in Music at HKBU. Start learning western percussion since young, under the tutelage of Dr. Lung Heung Wing, Choi Suk Fan and James Boznos; drumset under Marco Leung; Chinese percussion under Ho Yi-on.
He is currently the member of MIHK@Four Gig Heads Percussion Ensemble, Bombak recycling percussion ensemble and Hong Kong indie band DE TESLA's drummer.
Tracy Lam (Percussion)
Tracy Lam is a percussionist, drummer and cajonist. Active in the local music industry, Lam is experienced in live performance and programme making. She is one of the drummers and programmers from the percussion groups "FANtastic Line" and "DaJian". She was also one of the music director and the composer of the Musical 《迴想》, which is organised by The PolyArts from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
In addition, Lam has been invited to various local music events, including "Hong Kong International Jazz Festival" (2020), "1563 at the East "(2017), "Youth Music and Dance Marathon" (2018), "Cathay Pacific International Lunar New Year Festival Night Parade" (2019), "Wu Yekun Short-period Concert" (2019), etc. She has worked with groups and singers, including Ng Yip-kwan, Lil' Ashes, New Youth Barber, etc.
