Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra
Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra aims at promoting music among the public, especially the young generation in Hong Kong. The orchestra has performed in the Hong Kong City Hall, district town halls and civic centres a few hundred times for 40 years. A number of internationally famous conductors and soloists have been invited to perform with it. By using the idioms of popular music and organising concert talks, the orchestra has successfully introduced classical music to the public.
The orchestra and its music director Dr Yip Wai-hong are committed to cultivate local art talents. Apart from standard orchestral repertoire, the orchestra has invited local artists from different arts aspects for the collaboration of cross-disciplinary programmes to nurture a new generation of artists, and on the other, creates more possibilities for innovating classical music. The orchestra has organised many one-of-its-kind concerts and cross-over programmes to promote classical music. These programmes have significantly expanded the audience base of the genre, and at the same time, offered more novel programmes for music lovers.
