During her studies, she was awarded a number of scholarships to further her training in the Mainland under huqin masters Chen Yaoxing, Min Huifen, You Jishun, Li Heng, Shen Cheng and more. She was awarded a Master's degree in Music (Performance) at the HKAPA in 2012, majoring in gaohu under the supervision of Yu Qiwei. In 2005, she formed the huqin ensemble, 'Hulala', with other alumni of the HKAPA to promote new compositions in huqin. Wong Lok-ting was with the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra between 2006 and 2018, serving first as huqin player and later Huqin Co-principal and Gaohu Principal.
