The relationship between parents and children is not only most common but also most complicated. These two original one-act plays explore the drama of this intricate relationship.
1st play: Farewell to the Receding Shadow
Nowadays in Hong Kong, most women are torn between their work and their family. In the family, they have to take care of both their children and their parents, in addition to their husbands. They are pressed to make both ends meet but there is seldom a chance to vent their feelings. Drawing from her own experiences as mother and daughter, and other true stories, new playwright Lung Wai-kit creates a touching solo drama about three generations of mothers and daughters, performed by Cecilia Ng.
2nd play: Fantasia on Fathers and Sons
Is it really like father, like son? This new documentary and ethnotheatre play captures real materials from interviews with fathers and sons, which are then transformed by award-winning playwright Callas Cheang to explore the multifaceted relationship between father and son.
