Introduction: Pui O Campsite, equipped with facilities like camp bays, barbecue pits and an office, is located next to Pui O Beach on Lantau Island.
Transportation: Take bus No. 1 or No. 4 (to Tong Fuk) at Mui Wo Ferry Pier and get off at Bui O Public School (a 15-minute ride), or take bus No. 3M or No. A35 at Tung Chung Town Centre and get off at Bui O Public School (a 30-minute ride).

Pui O Campsite

On-site Application

Other than the specified dates (Note 1) and the weekly maintenance day(Note 2), the camp bays at Pui O Campsite are available for use by making on-site applications at the camp office. Camp places will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.

Applicants must be aged 18 or above and a holder of the Hong Kong Identity Card (for Hong Kong residents) or valid travel documents (for non-Hong Kong residents).

Each successful applicant will be assigned one camp place for a period of not more than 6 consecutive nights or till the weekly maintenance day (whichever is the earlier). Campers should check in no earlier than 11:00 am, and check out before 10:00 am on the day of departure.

 

Advance Booking Arrangements (applicable to specified dates(Note 1))

To facilitate the booking of camp bays by local residents and ensure the effective management of campsite facilities, LCSD has implemented the advance booking arrangements for camp bays at Pui O Campsite for Hong Kong residents during the Lunar New Year holidays, Labour Day and National Day.

Hong Kong residents may submit their application forms according to the advance booking arrangements. The 54 camp bays in the campsite will be allocated by ballot. Each applicant may only book one camp bay for a period of not more than 4 consecutive nights. Applicants are required to produce their identity card and the Notification of Acceptance/permit for use of the campsite for verification when checking in. If there are remaining camp bays available for use, residents and tourists can make on-site applications at the camp office on a first-come-first-served basis.

Booking Procedure

Hong Kong residents may submit their application forms within the submission dates for advance booking. The completed Application Form for Use of Pui O Campsite managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department should be submitted in person, by post or by email (email address: pocbooking@lcsd.gov.hk) before the deadline to the Islands District Leisure Services Office of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department at Room 622, 6/F, Harbour Building, 38 Pier Road, Central, Hong Kong.

[Each applicant may apply for one camp bay only for a period of not more than 4 consecutive nights. Repeated applications will not be entertained.]

Conditions of Use of Camp Places at Pui O Campsite

  1. Applicants are required to complete the application form and sign the declaration thereon undertaking to comply with the Bathing Beaches Regulation (Cap. 132 sub. leg. E) and these conditions of use of the campsite. When making on-site applications, they should produce their Hong Kong Identity Card / valid travel document. During their stay, campers should produce their identification document upon request for verification by camp staff.

  2. The information provided on the application form will be used for application processing and statistics compilation by authorised officers only. Use of forged identification documents, once found, will be referred to law enforcement agencies for follow-up actions and the relevant applications will be rendered void.

  3. Successful applicants will be issued a permit for use of the campsite. The permit is not transferable. Applicants must be present throughout the camping period.

  4. Successful applicants should erect their tents at the assigned camp bay/designated camping area within 1 hour after checking in, or their registration will be cancelled and the camp bay/camping area will be released to other campers.

  5. Camp places are for personal use only. If a person is found engaging in commercial activities at the campsite, or breaching the conditions of use, etc., his/her permit will be cancelled immediately and the person concerned must stop using the campsite at once.

  6. At the campsite, campers:
    (i) should look after the accompanying children and persons with disabilities;
    (ii) should take care of their personal belongings;
    (iii) should erect their tents in the designated camping area; and
    (iv) may use the shower and toilet facilities at Pui O Beach.

  7. In order to protect the environment and keep the campsite clean and tidy, please:
    (i) dispose of rubbish at the Rubbish Collection Point;
    (ii) hang your washing on the designated clothes lines;
    (iii)save water; and
    (iv)keep the noise down between 11:00 pm and 8:00 am.

  8. Campers shall NOT:
    (i) erect tents outside the designated camping area;
    (ii) use tents that occupy more than 6 square metres of the camping area;
    (iii) allow their tents or tent ropes to block the paths or cause a nuisance to others;
    (iv) light fires outside the designated barbecue area;
    (v) smoke, consume alcohol, gamble, burn wax, cycle or climb trees in the campsite; and
    (vi) bring pets or birds.
    Offenders may be prosecuted.

  9. Inclement weather arrangements
    (i) The campsite will be temporarily closed if Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 3 or above or Red or Black Rainstorm Warning Signal is issued by the Hong Kong Observatory. In addition, the campsite facilities may, for safety or operational reasons, be closed at the management staff’s discretion if they are deemed not suitable for use by campers. In any of the above cases, campers shall leave the campsite as soon as it is safe to do so.
    (ii)Campers and visitors should stay indoors or under the shelter during thunderstorms.
    (iii)Campers will not be allocated another camp place if they fail to use their camp place within the specified period due to adverse weather or other special circumstances.

  10. The LCSD reserves the right to amend the conditions of use of Pui O Campsite at any time without further notice.

 

Weekly Maintenance Day

Cleansing and maintenance are carried out at Pui O Campsite from 11:00 am on a Tuesday to 11:00 am of the following day. Campers are required to check out and leave the campsite by 10:00 am on Tuesdays, and take all personal belongings with them before leaving. Any personal belongings left behind by campers will be treated as found property.

If a Tuesday falls on a public holiday, the campsite will be open as usual and the weekly cleansing and maintenance will be rescheduled for the next working day.  

Advance booking arrangements will be implemented during Lunar New Year holidays, Labour Day and National Day for Hong Kong residents to book camp bays. The weekly maintenance day will be cancelled during these periods.
