Mulan is a dance drama based on the beloved story of family devotion, loyalty and love elaborated in the ancient Ballad of Mulan.  The plot centres around the heroic endeavour of a young woman who disguises herself as a man to take her father's place in the army.  She embarks on a journey of self-discovery that takes her into the battle fields, yet through which she ultimately finds love, peace and freedom. This modern interpretation reimagines the classic tale of the legendary female Chinese warrior Hua Mulan through remarkable and compelling dance pieces and exquisite stage technology.

The production of Mulan was choreographed by Zhou Liya and Han Zhen, critically acclaimed creators in the Mainland’s dance scene.  Mulan won the Mainland's prestigious 11th China Dance Lotus Award for Dance Drama, the 14th Zhejiang Provincial Drama Festival Orchid Award and was invited to participate in the 20th China Shanghai International Arts Festival and the 50th Festival Internacional Cervantino in Mexico.  It also toured to the United States in 2023 and won critical acclaim.
