Gabriel Kwok
Gabriel Kwok has been Head of Keyboard Studies at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts since 1989. A Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music in London since 2003, he is also a visiting professor at the Shenzhen Arts School, Xian Conservatory of Music, Xinghai Conservatory of Music, Wuhan Conservatory of Music and China Conservatory of Music. He has given masterclasses in the Mainland, Taiwan, Singapore, South Korea, the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal, the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. He was awarded a Medal of Honour by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2014 for his contribution to piano education.
Nancy Loo
Nancy Loo is one of the most versatile artists in Hong Kong, being pianist, radio programme host, actress, writer, and educator all in one. She was one of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons, a recipient of the Medal of Honour by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and was named Artist of the Year (Music) by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council. She has given solo recitals and performed with orchestras in the United Kingdom, Europe, North America and Asia. She currently teaches at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and hosts the music programmes ‘Cantilena’ and ‘Children’s Corner’ on Radio Television Hong Kong.
Eva Lue
Eva Lue trained at the Royal College of Music in London as a scholarship holder and winner of many prizes. Since her return to Hong Kong, she has appeared as concerto soloist with many orchestras including the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, and Hong Kong Sinfonietta. She has devoted much of her time in pedagogic and adjudicating work in recent years. She is currently on the piano faculty of the School of Music at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
Eleanor Wong
Eleanor Wong is currently Professor of Music (Keyboard) of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. She was awarded a Medal of Honour by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2014 for her contribution to piano education. She is also a visiting professor at the Shenzhen Arts School and Wuhan Conservatory of Music, an honorary professor of the Tianjin Conservatory of Music and the Chairperson of the Piano Teachers’ Association in Hong Kong. She is often invited to serve as a jury member in various international piano competitions and festivals. As a soloist, she has given recitals extensively in the United Kingdom, the United States and Hong Kong.
Chan Sze Yau
Chan Sze Yau graduated with first class honours from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, and continued his studies at the Indiana University on a full scholarship, where he received his performer’s diploma and Master’s degree. Winner of numerous prizes and scholarships, he has performed solo and chamber music concerts in the United States, Europe and Mainland. He is currently on the piano faculty at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and the Hong Kong Baptist University.
Tao Chang
Tao Chang graduated from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and the University of Kansas. He was the winner of the J. N. Hummel International Piano Competition in 1996 and became the first Asian winner of Vianna da Motta International Piano Competition in 1997. He performs not only in solo and chamber recitals around the world, but has also made concerto appearances with various orchestras. His name was listed in the Chinese Contemporary Artists Biography.
Julie Kuok
Julie Kuok graduated from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) and Royal Academy of Music in London. She is active in performance, composition and music education, currently teaching at the HKAPA, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Baptist University. She has been commissioned to write music by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, Radio Television Hong Kong, Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Hong Kong Children’s Choir and Chinese Woman Composers’ Association.
Colleen Lee
Colleen Lee was a winner of the 6th Prize at the 15th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition. She has performed extensively around the world in solo recitals and frequently appears in chamber music festivals and collaborates with renowned soloists and chamber groups. She is currently the Honorary Artist-in-Residence of The Education University of Hong Kong and on the piano faculty of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and the Hong Kong Baptist University.
Kinwai Shum
Kinwai Shum first trained as a junior student at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and went on to study at the Eastman School of Music in New York. He currently teaches at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and is an Honorary Artist-in-Residence of The Education University of Hong Kong. A prizewinner in the Hilton Head International Piano Competition in 1999 and Schubert International Piano Competition in 2007, he was also one of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons in Hong Kong in 2013.
KaJeng Wong
KaJeng Wong was a winner of the Alaska International Piano-e Competition and the Maria Canals International Piano Competition. He released a CD Seasons of Life in 2020, with the latest God Pray Love currently in production. He has collaborated with artists from other disciplines, curated concerts series and projects as well as sporadically sharing his thoughts on columns. He was featured in the documentary KJ: music and life.
