Chemie Ching graduated from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts under the tutorship of Jennifer To and Michael Campbell. Ching then pursued Master of Music degree from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts with Taimur Sullivan and Doctor of Musical Arts degree in saxophone performance from the Michigan State University under the tutorship of world-renowned saxophonist Joseph Lulloff.
One of the most recognised and versatile saxophonists in Hong Kong and mainly involved in classical, jazz and pop music fields, Ching has rich experience in solo, chamber music and band performance. The Dasch Quartet, of which Ching was one of the founding members, won the North American Saxophone Alliance Saxophone Quartet Competition and the ENKOR International Music Competition (Chamber Music Category). The Quartet had released its first CD Necessary Edges in 2016. Ching was also the baritone saxophonist of the Auteur Saxophone Quartet that won the Coltman Chamber Music Competition, as well as a member of local groups Patrick Lui Jazz Orchestra, Opus a la carte and For The Love Of Big Band, and recently serves as the Music Director of La Sax.
Committed to promoting local saxophone music and actively participates in various cultural activities, Ching has been invited to perform in local festivals, musicals and collaborated with many prominent Hong Kong artists such as Grasshopper, C AllStar, RubberBand, etc.
