Hosted by veteran music culturists Wong Chi-chung and Clarence Chang , the sharing sessions will focus on five topics, exploring different aspects and changes of Hong Kong's pop music culture from multiple perspectives. Selected music demos will be played through vinyl turntable, letting the participants appreciate the details and tunes of music from different periods, and evoke different memories through the great classics. Musicians from different generations and styles will be invited to join some of the sessions.

Speakers
Wong Chi-chung
Dr. Wong Chi-chung is Head of General Education at The University of Hong Kong since 2011. Both of his MPhil and PhD theses in HKU are themed on HK Pop Music and Global Pop Culture. He is also a veteran radio DJ, music critic, and curator. Focusing on international music and local pop/indie music culture, he plays an active role in promoting international and local art and culture through radio and TV programmes, and through curating various cross-cultural projects, including the Mandarin version of David Bowie’s song Seven Years in Tibet (1997), Dream Come True 80 Days Around the World (2000), PoPo Song (2004), James Wong Study (2005), Centennial Exhibition of Chinese Records (2006), Hong Kong Pop/Performing Culture: Creativity and Dynamics (2007), Farewell Ka Kui 15th Anniversary (2008), Gen-S Concert for Shanghai Expo (2010), and Hong Kong Week in Taipei (2012), Ryuichi Sakamoto's album async (2017), Heritage Museum (HK Pop 60+ : Canto Pop Oral History) (2021). Wong currently hosts the radio show ‘Chi Chung’s Choice’ on CR2 FM 90.3.

Chris Polanco (22.7.2023)
Chris Polanco is a singer-songwriter, music producer and multi-instrumentalist. He is best known for his compositions and arrangements of Latin music including the hit single Tequila from the L.O.V.E. album. He released his first Cantonese single Thousand Ways To Say I'm Sorry in 2022, his other works include Crazy and Better Days.

Anders Nelsson (23.9.2023)
Anders Nelsson, a well-known artist in Hong Kong during the 1960s and 1970s, possesses great musical talent and excelled in composing, writing lyrics, playing instruments, and singing. In 1963, his band, The Kontinentals, signed a contract with a record company and released two English hit songs, "I Still Love You" and "I Think Of Her," which topped the popular music charts in Hong Kong and became extremely popular at that time.

Consist of lead vocal singer Pollie Tong and multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Wut, Lil' Ashes is a pop duo under Sony Music’s O.U.R. Works label. They released their debut album “Be Little” in 2014, which peaked No. 1 on iTunes and HMV Albums Chart. Throughout their career, they had been invited to perform at various international music festivals, such as Clockenflap, Tone Music, Lion Rock and Strawberry Music Festivals.

Patrick Lui is an award-winning pianist, composer, arranger, and producer. Since his graduation from Berklee College of Music (USA), he has won the Marvin Hamlisch International Music Award (Jazz Composition), the Taichung Jazz Festival Piano Competition, and was a semi-finalist at the Bucharest International Jazz Competition; his jazz orchestra piece Mirror Dance was the first jazz composition nominated for ‘Best Serious Composition’ at the CASH Golden Sail Music Awards. His work as a co-producer with pop group RubberBand over the years has garnered them the prestigious ‘Album of The Year’, ‘Song of The Year’ awards, by Commercial Radio Hong Kong, and the ‘Best Song’ award at the CASH Golden Sail Music Awards.
