The performance will run for about 1 hour and 45 minutes including a 15-minute intermission. 

Audience is strongly advised to arrive punctually.  Latecomers will only be admitted during the intermission or at a suitable break.

Yanki Ma holds a master's degree in yangqin performance from the Central Conservatory of Music, where she studied under the renowned yangqin virtuoso and educator Liu Yuening.  She is currently a yangqin player of the Cantonese Music Assembly, a core member of the Jasmine Ensemble of the Central Conservatory of Music, Vice President and Secretary-General of the Asian Dulcimer Association, Vice President of the Yangqin Professional Committee of the China Musical Instrument Association and a member of the Cimbalom World Association.  Ma was the founding Vice President of the Hong Kong Yangqin Association.  She graduated from the Hong Kong Baptist University and the University of Iowa in the United States, with Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Music and a bachelor's degree in psychology.  During her junior years, Ma studied yangqin with Lee Tak-kong and Yu Mei-lai, and further her training in Cantonese yangqin under Pan Weiwen.

Ma is proactive in the local music scene.  In 2022, she performed at the Grand Variety Show in Celebration of the 25th Anniversary of Hong Kong’s Return to the Motherland.  She has also performed as a soloist on various occasions and held solo recitals in many parts of the world.  Ma has premiered several original works, which include her own compositions: Light in Darkness and The Tanka Boat Song (one of the selected works in The Great Wall Suite which is supported by China National Arts Fund 2023), Hui Cheung-wai’s Moonlit Night, and Joshua Chan's Responses for yangqin and string quintet.  Ma has also adapted Chen Ning-chi's Sunny Boys and Bill Whelan’s Riverdance
