Xu Lingzi
Xu Lingzi is a guzheng virtuoso and a National Class One Musician in the Mainland. She graduated from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music in 1983 with distinction and joined the faculty there. She was later posted to the China National Traditional Orchestra in Beijing as a soloist. Currently she is Deputy Head of Chinese Music at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Moreover, she has given solo performances on world-class stages in Europe, Asia and America in more than 20 countries and regions, such as the Wiener Musikverein in Vienna. She has performed with many professional Chinese orchestras in performing full-length guzheng concertos. Xu is an expert in the Shanghai Conservatory of Music's Summit and Plateau Construction Projects, an honorary member of the Zheng Professional Committee of the China Nationalities Orchestra Society, and a member of the Theory and Criticism Committee of the China Nationalities Orchestra Society. Her artistic accomplishments have been recorded in the “Classics of Chinese Music – Book of Guzheng”.
Ng Hiu-hung
Ng Hiu-hung, is a guzheng player. She is concurrently Honorary Director of the China Zheng Association and of the China Nationalities Orchestra Society, Principal Guzheng of the Hong Kong City Chinese Orchestra, guzheng instructor at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Vice Chairperson of The Association of Chinese Culture of Hong Kong, and Chairperson of Hong Kong Fenghua Production. Ng studied guzheng under the tutelage of several eminent musicians including Rao Ningxin, Hon See-wah, Gao Zicheng, and Louis Chen, and she has toured over 20 countries and regions, spanning the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Ng collaborates regularly with record labels, having released solo albums under BMG, SONY MUSIC and ROI Productions. Among her discography, Butterfly Lovers is one of the best-selling albums in the Asia-Pacific region and has achieved Gold Record status. She composed the soundtrack music and performed guzheng solo for several TV drama series of Television Broadcasts Limited. Her composition Romance under the Moon won the 2015 CASH Golden Sail Most Performed Works Award, while another work Consort Yu received a nomination for the 2018 CASH Golden Sail Music Award for Best Serious Composition.
Ng is the author of a teaching aid entitled Chinese Guzheng Tutorial. Her musical and pedagogical achievements have been listed in "20th Century History of Chinese Music" and "20th Century Biographies of Chinese Music Figures".
