Facilities at the Hong Kong Stadium are continually maintained and improved by the department through a series of works programmes. The pitch was kept in top class condition in 2004 for staging international events, receiving praise from both local and visiting athletes. The department plans to replace the public address system in 2005 to improve the stadium's acoustic quality, which will enable a wider variety of uses for the stadium. As a way of boosting usage, the LCSD is accepting bookings in a more flexible way and is also prepared to take bookings for non-sporting events, such as carnivals and charity shows.
