The 10th National Games of the People's Republic of China (PRC) was held in Nanjing in October 2005. To prepare for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) delegation to participate in the games, an organising committee comprising local sports celebrities, members of the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China and the relevant government officials was formed with secretariat support from the department.

'Jinlin', adopted from the auspicious Chinese animal 'Qilin' and sharing the same pronunciation as that of the old capital Nanjing, was the mascot of the 10th National Games.

A total of 178 athletes took part in 23 events and won one gold medal and three bronze medals after keen competition with Mainland athletes.
