Music Office Youth Brass Band

The Music Office Youth Brass Band (MOYBB) was established in 2013. It aims at nurturing young brass musicians and creating a wider interest in and reception of brass band music in Hong Kong. Recruitment of the MOYBB is held through open audition in April every year.

The Band gave its debut at the Youth Music Marathon 2014 which was held at the Sha Tin Town Hall Plaza. The band also performed in various occasions including the Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo, “Weekend Joyful Melodies” held at Yuen Long Theatre, the “Saturday Music-Get-Together” held at Hong Kong Cultural Centre Foyer, Christmas concert at 1881 Heritage and the “Fiesta of Music Office Bands, Choirs and Orchestras - Bands”.

In addition to performances, members of MOYBB have actively participated in brass workshops, receiving guidance from local and internationally renowned brass musicians.

District Youth Symphonic Bands of the Music Office

 

The Music Office currently runs two District Youth Symphonic Bands: Kowloon Youth Symphonic Band (KYSB) and New Territories Youth Symphonic Band (NTYSB). The bands are established to provide ensemble training for the young wind players, many of which are trainees of the Instrumental Music Training Scheme. Recruitment of the bands is held through open audition in April every year.

 

In addition to regular appearances in the Music Office concerts, the bands have actively participated in many local activities and invited performances to share the joy of Wind music with the community.

Music Office Junior Symphonic Band

 

The Music Office Junior Symphonic Band (MOJSB) was established in 2019. It aims at providing a platform for junior wind players to gain more performing experiences and enhance their interest in music and performing skills. With members aged between 7 and 16, recruitment of the MOJSB is held through open audition in April every year.

 

Through public performances in various venues, the MOJSB brings a variety of band music and share the enjoyment in wind music with the community.

Hong Kong Children’s Symphonic Band

 

The Hong Kong Children’s Symphonic Band (HKCSB) was established in 1979 to provide ensemble training for young wind players in Hong Kong. With members aged between 8 and 14, recruitment of the HKCSB is held through open audition in April every year.

 

In addition to regular appearances in Music Office concerts, the Band has also actively participated in many local activities and invited performances. These include performance at the Hong Kong Flower Show, Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo, television programmes for children and hospitals. In 2006, the Band went on a music exchange tour invited by the Children’s Palace Shenzhen and won high acclaims.
