An Outdoor Arts Feast for a Musical Joyride

‘Hong Kong Week’ presents for the first time a large-scale outdoor concert, a music marathon that will set ablaze the Huashan 1914 Creative Park!

The two-day event features a programme of diverse musical styles. It brings together five distinctive performing arts groups from Hong Kong including City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong, Lo Tung Lo Percussion Group, R&T (Rhythm & Tempo), Romer String Quartet and Veloz Harmonica Quartet, who will be performing classical music, light music, jazz, percussion and tap dance. In the first concert, the groups will share the stage with Taiwanese artists Chang Shu-jan (Erhu), Chang Ya-wei (Dance), Sirius Harmonica Ensemble, Tien-Ku Percussion Group and Dance Works in a showcase of artistic sparks. In the second concert, members of the Five Groups will mingle in an exciting musical fusion.

Both concerts will feature composer Fung Lam’s new work which is inspired by iconic songs from Hong Kong and Taiwan, with Lam conducting the ensemble performance by the Five Groups. The programme will be kicked off by the visually stunning electronic music performance by media artist GayBird, and closed with a jazz quintet performance led by Eugene Pao, one of the eminent jazz musicians in the world. Fast-rising jazz guitarist Teriver Cheung will jam with the other artists, instilling even more vibrant touches into the concerts!

A number of interactive and spontaneous fringe activities will be held at the lawn of Huashan Forum before the concerts, including Samba Percussion Parade, Bug Fantasia, The Silence, Let’s Tap Together, and Fun with the Harmonica, which will take the audience on a joyous musical journey.

On two autumn afternoons and dusks, let us stroll outdoors and embrace the arts, and listen to the exchanges between the performers and the audience.
