The Hong Kong Flower Show 2018 organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department was held between 16 and 25 March at Victoria Park. Dahlia, a striking blossom that comes in a bold palette and varied forms, will grace this year’s Hong Kong Flower Show as its theme flower. As the theme “Joy in Bloom” suggests, the exquisite blossoms of Dahlia will greet visitors from near and far with gorgeous smiles, filling their hearts with joy as they take on a remarkable journey through the colourful realm of botanical wonders. A signature horticultural event in the territory, the Show impressed flower lovers with garden plots and displays exquisitely crafted with creativity and skill, drawing support from over 260 organisations including 103 exhibitors from 18 countries, namely Australia, China, Estonia, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, the United Kingdom, the United States and Vietnam, took part in the show. They showcased exotic flowers, landscapes and floral art displays.
During the show period, a rich diversity of educational and recreational fringe activities was organised for the enjoyment of visitors of all ages. They include student drawing competition, photo competition, exhibit competition, music and cultural performances, floral art demonstrations, greening activities workshops, green promotional game stalls, guided visits, recreation programmes and fun games. Favourably received by horticultural fans and the general public alike, the Show reached new heights attracting a record high of over 720 000 visitors in 2018, and again proved instrumental in promoting local interest in greening.
