The Director of Leisure and Cultural Services administers more than 700 types of fees and charges. She is responsible for ensuring that they are reviewed regularly, and that revenue from these sources is collected promptly, and properly accounted for.
The revised estimates of revenue for 2003/04 were about $658 million. Revenue comes mainly from fees and charges for the admission and hiring of leisure and cultural activities and facilities, as well as rents. The revenue is credited to the General Revenue Account.
The department has frozen the fees and charges for various leisure and cultural services at their current levels in view of the recent economic climate. |
