Training on Bun Tower Climbing |
- The 200 participants of the Individual Event receive training on bun tower climbing from the Hong Kong, China Mountaineering and Climbing Union (HKCMCU).
- Demonstration of bun tower climbing techniques and safety measures by the coaches of the HKCMCU.

- Participants of the Bun Scrambling Competition Invitation Relay receive training on bun tower climbing from the HKCMCU.

Selection Contest for the Bun Scrambling Competition |
- The Selection Contest consists of the Preliminary and Semi-final rounds, in which participants are tested for speed and technique respectively. The 12 participants with the best results (including at least 3 female participants) are shortlisted to enter the Bun Scrambling Competition.

Climbing Carnival |
- Bun Tower Climbing Team Relay
(5 members per team)
- There are two divisions, namely “Local tertiary institutions” and “Government departments, public utilities, commercial and industrial organisations”.
- Participating teams are required to receive training on bun tower climbing from the HKCMCU on the event day.
- The team that completes the designated mission(s) in the shortest time wins.
- Bun Tower Climbing – Ultimate Team Challenge
- The first 4 teams to finish the Bun Tower Climbing Team Relay in each division, involving a total of eight, will be invited to enter the Ultimate Team Challenge.
- The team that completes the designated mission(s) in the shortest time wins.

- Wishing bun tower
- Winning entries in the drawing competition for kindergarten and primary school students will be displayed at the carnival and put on roving display at sports centres in the Islands District, Tung Chung Swimming Pool, Cheung Chau Public Library, Tung Chung Public Library and in the waiting areas of certain First Ferry piers after the carnival.

Competition Events

Individual Event |
- The 12 finalists climb on the bun tower and collect buns (which carry scores) within 3 minutes. The one with the highest score wins.
- Trophies will be awarded to the champion, first and second runners-up in the Men’s Division, and the champion in the Women’s Division.
- A special prize, namely “Full Pockets of Lucky Buns”, will be awarded to the participant who collects the most buns.
- Starting from 2016, “The King of Kings” or “The Queen of Queens” award will be presented to any winner who has won the champion title for three times in the Men’s or Women’s Division.

Bun Scrambling Competition Invitation Relay (3 members per team) |
- Teams from neighbouring areas and community organisations in Cheung Chau are invited to take part in the relay (10 teams in total).
- The event is a speed challenge. The team that collects the designated buns and return to the ground in the shortest time wins.
- Participating teams are required to receive training on bun tower climbing from the HKCMCU on 14 April.
- Prizes will be awarded to the champion, first and second runners-up.

- There will be performances before the competition and the prize presentation ceremony.
