Hong Kong Velodrome & The 5th Hong Kong Games
Fully opening up of the facilities of the Hong Kong Velodrome
Costing 1.13 billion to build, the Hong Kong Velodrome was completed at the beginning of this year and is now fully open for Hong Kong citizens. The velodrome is located at 105-107 Po Hong Road, Tseung Kwan O. Apart from a wooden cycling track that meets international standards, it also has other ancillary facilities, such as a multi-purpose arena in the in-field, a fitness room, a table tennis room, a dance room, and a children's playroom.
To ensure the safety of users of the venue, all hirers of the cycling track must possess a track pass issued by the LCSD. The LCSD is currently planning with the Hong Kong Cycling Association (the Association) to organize track cycling training courses during this year for those who are interested in track cycling to apply for track passes. Please keep abreast of the latest news from the LCSD.
There are two types of hiring arrangements for using the cycling track, the “exclusive use” and the “shared use”. Under the “exclusive use” (hiring the whole cycling track) arrangement, hirers and all users must be track pass holders and be supervised by a track supervisor or Level II Instructor (Track Cycling) recognized by the Association before they can use the track. The peak and non-peak hour charges for the "exclusive use" of the track are $800 and $560 per hour respectively. Qualified persons can hire the track via “Leisure Link”.
To offer greater flexibility to individual track pass holders, the velodrome will arrange "shared use" sessions during which a maximum of 20 riders can be accommodated to share the use of the track concurrently under the supervision of qualified personnel engaged by the LCSD. The peak and non-peak hour charges for a two-hour "shared use" session for each user are $110 and $80 respectively. The detailed booking arrangements for the "shared use" sessions will be announced in due course.
In addition, citizens can make advance bookings of the arena of the velodrome and its other facilities via “Leisure Link”, and the park adjoining the Hong Kong Velodrome is also open to the public.
Please browse the LCSD website (http://www.lcsd.gov.hk/lsb/en/facilities.php?ftid=0&did=8#1229) or call 2878 8622 to get in touch with a staff if you have any enquiries about the various facilities of the velodrome.
The race track of the Hong Kong Velodrome can only be used by hirers who have a track pass issued by the LCSD. The multi-purpose arena is also open to the public. |
