Athletics has drawn much attention in Hong Kong in recent years and running has become one of the sports most beloved by the Hong Kong people. Athletics is good for both the body and the mind. In order to encourage local youths to participate actively, Ms Marina Tsui has been devoted to the planning of training over the years to help foster outstanding local athletes.
Leading a team with enthusiasm and dedication
Ms Tsui loves sports and is a fit athlete herself. She used to participate in hurdling competitions when she was in secondary school and became a physical education teacher after she graduated. She later joined a commercial organisation and helped to establish Watsons Athletic Club in 1989. Ms Tsui is very experienced and is the best choice for managing the athletic club. The Athletic Club has encountered various hardships in the 28 years since its establishment, but Ms Tsui is still full of enthusiasm and firm conviction. With her outstanding leadership, she leads a team of employees, volunteers, athletes and parents to contribute to society.
Sparing no effort to cultivate talent
Ms Tsui is passionate about cultivating sport talent and has great aspirations. In terms of sports training, the Athletic Club tailors training courses to the physical condition of youths and gradually upgrades their level. In addition, other matters of concern to athletes and parents, such as mental health and further education, are also taken into consideration. The Club organises a range of activities, including inviting doctors and professionals to give lectures on psychology and health, and also organises seminars on academic progression at a number of secondary schools to provide athletes with academic guidance and give them peace of mind while they pursue sports development.
Providing systematic guidance to cultivate good morals
Ms Tsui also pays close attention to the holistic development of young athletes. In addition to taking care of the physical condition of athletes, the Athletic Club also attaches great importance to the cultivating the morality of athletes. Ms Tsui also values the development of discipline and team spirit in the development of training and management policies. For example, the Athletic Club arranges young athletes to participate in charity or community activities to inculcate the concept of helping others and self-help. Ms Tsui not only pays great attention to the overall development of athletics, but also contacts other athletics clubs every now and then so that athletes can support each other and grow together.
