Stay Active Healthy and Happy

To continue to promote the benefits of sports in the community and to encourage Sport for All, the LCSD will hold Sport For All Day on 5 August (Sunday). The slogan of the event, “Stay Active, Healthy and Happy!” is to remind members of the public that regular exercise enhances physical wellbeing and relieves stress, and makes us feel relaxed and healthy.

Free use of LCSD facilities and venues

As in the past, members of the public will be able to use a number of the LCSD’s indoor and outdoor sports venues and recreational facilities for free to encourage the public to participate in various sports activities and have fun playing sports. Starting from 9:00am on 29 July (Sunday), members of the public will be able to go to the LCSD’s leisure link booking counters (excluding self-service kiosks) to book recreational facilities for free use on Sport For All Day (5 August (Sunday)). Facilities include badminton courts, tennis courts, basketball courts, squash courts, table tennis tables, fitness rooms, activity rooms, dance rooms, bowling greens, archery ranges, golf facilities, public swimming pools and crafts of water sports centres, etc.

From 2pm to 6pm on 5 August (Sunday), the LCSD will organise a number of recreational and sports activities in designated sports venues in the 18 districts. This includes health seminars, sports demonstrations, fitness corner, parent-child activities, and children and youth activities, etc. There will also be sports demonstrations and fun activities for the elderly and persons with disabilities. The highlight this year is shuttlecock, a sport that has low requirements on venue and equipment and is easy to learn, which makes it the ideal sport to promote the concept of “Sport for All” as it is suitable for men, women, the elderly and children. From 8:30am on 16 July, 2018 (Monday), members of the public will be able to register at the relevant District Leisure Services Offices or designated venues on a first-come, first-served basis.

Community response to Sport For All Day

Community response to Sport For All DayTo encourage the community to participate in Sport For All Day, the LCSD has invited organisations to arrange various activities and added information about Sport For All Day in these activities. For example, in the “Summer Holiday Experience Day” held by the Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong Kowloon Centre on 1 May, shuttlecock demonstrations and fun events were added to the day to promote the mission of the event. As a result, participants were able to watch an exciting performance and personally experience the enjoyment of playing shuttlecock and the pleasure of sport.
