Barrier Free Facilities

To promote Arts-for-All, the Hong Kong Cultural Centre has been providing accessible venues, staff training, special facilities and services catering to the needs of people with disabilities and encouraging their participation in cultural and arts activities.

Accessible Venue

• Tactile guide path, braille and tactile map for the visually impaired at Level 1 Foyer and at the vehicle drop-off point facing Salisbury Road
• Tactile guide paths and braille evacuation maps for the visually impaired at upper basement, Level 1 foyer, podium and Level 3 to 4 of the Administration Building
• Automatic doors at the foyer of Auditoria Building and Administration Building for wheelchair users
• Braille evacuation plans at the lift lobby of Auditoria Building
• Accessible toilets at the foyer, the three performance venues and the backstage of the Concert Hall and Grand Theatre of Auditoria Building, and at Podium level of Administration Building
• Stair lifts for wheelchair users to access the viewing deck of Piazza
• “Smart City Walk” mobile app is applicable which shows current location of users and provides navigation to destination for the visually impaired

Concert Hall, Grand Theatre and Studio Theatre

• Seats designated for wheelchair users in the performance venues
• Audio and visual signals of the emergency alarm system
• Induction loop system for hearing-impaired persons in Concert Hall, Grand Theatre and Studio Theatre
• Lifting platform to access the backstage areas of the Concert Hall and Grand Theatre
• Tactile-braille indicators and voice-announcement device in the passenger lifts to the entrances of the three performance venues (Concert Hall, Grand Theatre and Studio Theatre) on all levels
• Lifts with tactile-braille indicators to reach dressing rooms, rehearsal rooms and practice rooms located at the backstage areas of the Concert Hall and Grand Theatre

Staff

Staff members (including front-of-house and stage managers) have been trained to provide services to people with disabilities in a helpful and courteous manner. They are always ready to render appropriate assistance if required.
