Satoshi Kato – Celebrated Japanese Saxophone Virtuoso
The Japanese saxophone virtuoso Satoshi Kato will share his performing experiences and techniques, and give live demonstration in this masterclass cum recital.
Satoshi Kato plays actively in both classical and jazz music, and he frequently participates in stage production and music composition. Graduated from the Senzoku Gakuen college of music, he was awarded the Maeda scholarship and the Maeda memorial prize. He also won numerous awards in various competitions within Japan.
As a soloist, Kato performs throughout Japan and also appears on TV shows or radio. He has performed with a lot of chamber music groups, brass bands, and orchestras. In 2018, He took part in Japan tour of “HABANERA × The Blue Aurora” Saxophone Quartet as a performer and a lecturer of the Academy HABANERA. He also gave guest performance in the recital of The Blue Aurora Saxophone Quartet.
Besides performances, Kato is also dedicated to pedagogy. He is currently a part-time instructor in the music department of Kai Seiwa High School. He has received twice the Outstanding Coaching Award from Japan Classical Music Association.
