The 12th National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities of the People’s Republic of China (NTGEM) will be held in Sanya of Hainan Province from 22 to 30 November 2024. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government set up an Organising Committee of the HKSAR Delegation (OC) in May 2024 to handle all matters relating to the participation of the HKSAR Delegation in the Games. The OC is led by Mr. Timothy FOK, President of the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC), and consists of members from the SF&OC, the sports sector, the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau, and the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD). The LCSD has assumed the Secretariat duties of the OC. To carry out duties of the Delegation, an Executive Committee (EC) has been set up under the OC.
It is the first time for the HKSAR to participate in the NTGEM. This edition of the games comprises 18 competition events and 3 categories of demonstration events. A total of 99 athletes and staff are in the HKSAR Delegation to participate in 3 competition events, namely shuttlecock, dragon boat and folk martial arts, and the demonstration event of dragon dance sport.
