The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Lau Kong-wah, today (October 28) extended congratulations to Hong Kong athletes for their strong performance at the 1st National Youth Games (NYG). They have won four medals in total.
"Hong Kong athletes have displayed great tenacity. People in Hong Kong all take pride in their perseverance and sportsmanship. We encourage young athletes to keep up their efforts and strive for better results in future," Mr Lau said.
The Hong Kong team has won four medals, comprising one gold medal, one silver medal and two bronze medals, at the NYG. The list of medals won is as follows:

The 1st NYG was held from October 18 to 27 in Fuzhou. Hong Kong sent 214 athletes to participate in 20 events and the athletes have finished all of their events smoothly. Apart from winning the four medals, Hong Kong delegation members came fourth in four events and fifth to eighth in 14 events, and six athletes in athletics and nine in swimming broke their individual records at the NYG. The Hong Kong delegation was also selected by the press as one of the top prize winners for best organised entry procession at the launch ceremony. In addition, Hong Kong has been presented with the participation award.
