Participation in the Preliminary and Final Round

According to the requirements set by the General Administration of Sport of China, the HKSAR athletes must enter the qualifying competitions and attain the required status before advancing to the finals of some events of the 7th NIG.  As for the remaining events, the athletes can gain direct entry into the finals.

During April to June this year, HKSAR Delegation sent 102 athletes and 25 accompanying officials with total 127 members took part in 5 preliminary round events of the 7th NIG, namely, football (men’s & women’s U16 division, and men’s U18 division), tennis, table tennis (singles), basketball (men’s U16 division) and badminton. 4 events including tennis (men’s single, women’s single, men’s double and mixed double), table tennis (men’s double), basketball (men’s U16 division) and badminton (men’s single) with total 22 athletes secured the quota in final round competition.
