The Cultural Services Branch plans and manages performance venues, provides and presents cultural and entertainment programmes to promote arts and culture in Hong Kong. The branch also provides public library services to meet the community's need for information, informal education and the profitable use of leisure and to promote the literary arts in Hong Kong. The branch also helps preserve local cultural heritage and promote appreciation for it by providing and developing museums and related services.
Through the provision of these services, the branch aims to cultivate an ecology conducive to cultural flourishment, to raise the cultural literacy and to transform the society to become more humane, complete and competitive through making arts a part of our lives.

The performing arts and cultural facilities throughout the territory comprises: 13 performance venues, six major museums, six smaller museums, a film archive, two indoor stadia and a network of 70 public libraries including eight mobile ones. |
