The Music Office aims to promote general music education in the community, especially to young people; to develop the public's interest in and appreciation of music; and to foster music sharing between local young musicians and their counterparts from all over the world. Services provided in 2003 included an instrumental music training scheme for 4,162 people, 18 youth orchestras, bands and choirs for 1,299 members, short-term music interest courses for 2,000 participants, and 340 music activities for around 190,000 people.
Territory-wide events organised in 2003 included a music camp, youth music interflows and music exchange programmes for local, Mainland and young musicians from overseas. |
