The 12,500-seat Hong Kong Coliseum and 3,600-seat Queen Elizabeth Stadium are two well designed and equipped multi-purpose indoor stadia for staging a range of activities from spectacular entertainment and cultural performances to international sports, celebratory events and conventions.
The Coliseum's flexible seating arrangements and excellent facilities are ideal for large-scale events. The year's highlights included concerts by the renowned Eagles from the USA and the popular Twelve Girls Band from the Mainland; and singers Law Tai Yau, Richie Jen and Jay Chou from Taiwan. Performances by local artists included Sandy Lam and Anthony Lun with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, TWINS, Alan Tam, Hacken Lee, Miriam Yeung, Jade Kwan, Chow Kai Sang, Jordan Chan, Sally Yeh, Teresa Carpio, Christopher Wong, Jenny Tseng, Sam Hui, Sammi Cheng, Andy Lau, Aaron Kwok, Tat Ming Pair and Kelly Chen.
Other significant events were the volleyball tournament FIVB Grand Prix — Hong Kong, and the ice show Pinocchio on Ice. Major celebration events at the Coliseum included performances by the People's Liberation Army Song and Dance Troupe for the 7th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and a variety show celebrating the 55th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China. Altogether, the Coliseum hosted 192 performances, which attracted a total audience of 1,719,500.

The Queen Elizabeth Stadium played host to a wide variety of events including
the 13th Super Kung Sheung Cup International Basketball Invitation
Championship; the Hong Kong Badminton Championship Final; Badminton and
Table Tennis Demonstrations by the Athens Olympics gold medallists of
the Mainland National Team; an acrobatic show, Dreamscape —
The Secret Game of Guizhou as the opening programme of the International
Arts Carnival; a joint performance Hand-in-Hand: Children's Art Troupe
Exchange Party by the National Working Committee of Chinese Young
Pioneers and local young artists; pop concerts by American singer David
Gates; and local singers Albert Au, Donald Cheung and Chet Lam. A total
of 263 performances were staged before a total audience of 402,900.
