Ancient Musical Instrument Class

Participants can experience and learn the techniques of playing the imitations of the unique ancient musical instruments. In addition, the relationship between the murals in Dunhuang and the ancient musical instruments will also be introduced. Participants will have a chance to join the Finale Concert to showcase their achievements to the community as well. There are four different classes:

• Percussion (hand drum and flat drum)
• Xun (traditional wind instrument)
• Konghou (traditional harp)
• Ruan (traditional plucked string instrument)

Target participants: Teenager aged 10-15 (Primary 4 to Secondary 3 students)
Date: October 2021 - January 2022 (14 sessions in total)
Duration: 1 hr 30 mins per session
Venue: Maryknoll Secondary School or Ko Lui Secondary School (Depends on the class enrolled)
Tutors: Hong Kong Gaudeamus Dunhuang Ensemble
