The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will hold the Sports For All Day, which is in its 8th consecutive year, on Sunday, August 7, to promote Sport For All in the community and the benefits of exercise, encourage members of the public to do sports and physical activities regularly, and integrate exercise into their daily life. Sport For All Day 2016 has been given the theme “Scale New Heights” to encourage all citizens of Hong Kong to exercise regularly, as well as to call upon the community to support Hong  Kong  athletes  as they strive for excellence  in international sports events.


Free Use of Leisure Facilities


To give members of the public a chance to try out different leisure facilities, the LCSD will let the public use a wide range of its indoor and outdoor leisure facilities at its sports venues for free so they can experience the fun of sports activities. Interested users can book at the counters of the Leisure Link booking offices at the sport venues from 9am, July 31. No prior booking will be required for public swimming pools. Interested users only have to line up at the pool entrances for free admission on the day, but should be aware that the pools have limited capacity. List of free use of leisure facilities includes badminton courts, tennis courts, basketball courts, netball courts, volleyball courts, squash courts, table tennis tables, American pool tables, billiard tables, sport climbing walls, bowling greens, golf facilities, fitness rooms, cycling track, activity rooms, dance rooms, batting cages, archery ranges, swimming pools and water sports centres.
 

Free Use of Leisure Facilities

Free Recreation Programmes


To create a better sports atmosphere, the LCSD will organize a wide range of free recreation and sports programmes in the 18 districts in the territory from 2pm to 6pm on the event day. The free programmes include health talks and exercise demonstrations, parent-child sports for fun, sports for fun for the public, and activities for the disabled and the able-bodied. From 8:30am, July 18, interested individuals can enroll in the free programmes at the LCSD’s District Leisure Services Offices or at designated venues on a first-come, first-served basis.


In addition, on the event day, the Physical Fitness Association of Hong Kong, China, will hold a variety of physical activities in the 18 districts in the territory. The Department of Health, the Sports Medicine Team of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and the Sports Medicine and Health Science Alumni Association of CUHK will arrange physiotherapists and coaches to hold exercise demonstrations. The Hong Kong Paralympic Committee and Sports Association for the Physically Disabled and the Hong Kong Sports Association for the Mentally Handicapped will also  co-organize  activities  and  games  for  integration  of  the  disabled  and  the able-bodied and provide them with professional safety advice on doing exercise. The activities are to promote Sport for All in the community.
 

At the LCSD’s cultural venues, each District Leisure Services Office will also hold book    exhibitions,    sports-themed   mini-exhibitions    and   storytelling    sessions. Sports-themed 3D photo panels will be set up to promote the importance of regular exercise and increase the public’s interest in doing exercise.
