The 8th Hong Kong Games Launches with Mascot Voting

new

The Hong Kong Games (HKG) is a territory-wide major multi-sport event held biennially with the 18 District Councils as participating units, and with all sports elites of Hong Kong gathering for competition. The Chairman of the 8th HKG Organising Committee, Mr Yip Wing-shing, announced details of the 8th HKG in a press conference last month.

The HKG was kicked off with the Hong Kong Games Mascot Voting event. From the date of the announcement, the public could vote for the design that best represented the HKG out of three shortlisted designs, namely Cheering Larry, HKG Monkey Trio and HKG Fairies. The design with the most votes would then become the mascot of the HKG.

Athletes representing the 18 districts will be selected from September this year to February 2021, and the event will be carried out from April to May 2021. The 8th HKG will cover eight sports, including athletics, badminton, basketball, futsal, swimming, table tennis, tennis and volleyball. Athletes should bear in mind to register for the selections.

LCSD One-stop Online Resources Centre
Leisure and cultural information in one place

news

Earlier this year, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) has launched its online resources centre to give the public access to a trove of leisure and cultural information.

Everyone knows daily exercise keeps us fit and regular exercise helps us maintain our physical and mental health. Many exercise demonstration videos and website links have been uploaded to the online resources centre. There are sports stars’ demonstrations of home exercises, which show how people can exercise in a small room with the help of a soft mat or heavy objects. The website also introduces fitness exercise, aerobic dance, stretching and muscle training that office workers who have no time to exercise outdoors can do at home. Parents can do simple and relaxing parent-child exercises with their children to make good use of their time together at home.

The online resources centre also covers horticulture and greening information, virtual exhibitions, electronic public library resources, as well as performing arts programmes such as music, theatre, dance and Chinese opera. Please visit the online resources centre for rich and diverse information. news
