The 1st Student (Youth) Games of the People’s Republic of China (NSYG) was completed successfully on 15 November 2023. The Hong Kong team achieved an encouraging result and won a total of 48 medals in the finals of seven sports in the School Category and 27 sports in the Open Category, comprising 10 gold medals, 15 silver medals and 23 bronze medals.
The Organising Committee (OC) of the HKSAR Delegation organised the Welcome Home Ceremony on 16 December 2023 at Ma On Shan Sports Centre. The Ceremony was officiated by the Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr Kevin Yeung, and attended by the following guests including the President of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, and the Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Delegation, Mr Timothy Fok; the Permanent Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism and Honorary Adviser of the Delegation, Mr Joe Wong; the Director of Leisure and Cultural Services and Deputy Chef de Mission of the Delegation, Mr Vincent Liu; the Commissioner for Sports and member of the Organising Committee of the Delegation, Mr Sam Wong; the Deputy Director of Leisure and Cultural Services (Leisure Services) and member of the Organising Committee of the Delegation, Miss Winnie Chui; the Head of Sports Section of the Department of Publicity, Cultural and Sports Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR, Mr Zhu Jianping; and the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Delegation, Mr Cheng King-leung. Commendation certificates were presented to athletes who achieved outstanding results in the 1st NSYG.
