The grand opening of Tsuen Wan Town Hall on 7 February 1980 marked the first multi-purpose cultural venue in the New Territories. Inspired by the design of Hong Kong City Hall in Central, this 25 million dollar Town Hall in three storeys on a 5 900 square-metre site houses an Auditorium with a capacity of 1 420, a Cultural Activities Hall with 260 seats, an Exhibition Gallery, a Lecture Room, a Conference Room and a Coffee Corner. The multi-purpose stage design of its Auditorium is best suited for diverse programmes including music, theatrical and performances.
