Public invited to cheer for 6th HK Games athletes and get chance to win free air tickets
Members of the public are invited to cheer for the athletes contesting in the final competitions of the 6th Hong Kong Games (HKG), which will start this Saturday (April 29). The HKG comprises eight sports, namely athletics, badminton, basketball, futsal, swimming, table tennis, tennis and volleyball. Games competitions will be held on the weekends from April 29 to May 28. The 6th HKG is one of the celebration events for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region's 20th anniversary. While sharing in the joy of the 20th anniversary, spectators will also have the chance to win two round trip air tickets provided by the sponsors.
Spectators attending these HKG final competitions can obtain quiz coupons at the competition venues to join a prize quiz. They are required to fill in their basic personal particulars and drop the coupons into a designated collection box at the venue concerned at the specified periods. The coupons will be distributed 30 minutes prior to each session of the final competitions on a first-come, first-served basis while stocks last. One participant will be drawn for each session for the prize quiz, and two round trip air ticket gift coupons will be awarded to each of the participants answering correctly.
Spectators will also be given a souvenir by posting and sharing photos of the HKG final competitions through social media (e.g. Facebook) on a first-come, first-served basis.
The time and venue of the final competitions of the eight sports as well as the game rules for the prize quiz can be found in the annexes and the HKG designated website: www.hongkonggames.hk. Members of the public who cannot attend the competitions in person can also view the live broadcast on the HKG designated website or the YouTube channel.
The HKG is a biennial major multi-sport event with the 18 District Councils (DCs) as the participating units. It aims to provide opportunities for amateur athletes from different districts to share experience and develop their potential, and to encourage active public participation in sports with a view to improving the level of sports at the district level. The HKG can also enhance communication, build friendship across districts and strengthen community cohesion.
The 6th HKG is organised by the Sports Commission and co-ordinated by the Community Sports Committee, with the 18 DCs, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China and relevant National Sports Associations as co-organisers. About 3 200 athletes take part in total.
