Background Information on the 7th NIG

Introduction:
Held once every four years, the National Intercity Games (NIG) aim to promote sports development in cities all over China and to identify young sports talents in order to bring in new blood to the Chinese national teams. In view of this, the age ceiling for participating athletes is generally set at 21. The 7th NIG will be held in Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province with a total of 57 participating delegations, including those from the Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions.

Events:
There are a total of 25 events in the 7th NIG, namely, swimming (diving), archery, athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, canoeing, cycling, fencing, football, gymnastics (trampoline), women’s handball, women’s hockey, judo, rowing, windsurfing, shooting, softball, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, volleyball, weightlifting, international wrestling and wushu (taolu and sanda).
