Major Attractions

The Angelonia 3D floral wall comprises four giant angelonia models in different colors embedded with twenty 3D small flowers, five of which have a diameter of over one meter. Each small flower is meticulously crafted by florists using around 200 to 300 orchids (Cattleya) of different colors, showcasing great attention to detail. The layering of the theme floral wall, together with the colorful and abundant tulip sea in the front, creates a magnificent visual effect.

This plot is full of eye-catching tulips offering a riot of bright colours, reminiscent of a floral sea.  An array of fragrant flowers are swaying in breeze, bringing a profound vibrancy.  Engrossed in the great visual delights, visitors can enjoy boundless fun by seeing flowers and vegetation.

The central lawn features a sunflower field measuring 15 metres by 25 metres. Over 5,000 vibrant sunflowers are planted and exuding a lively and vibrant atmosphere that full of vitality. Stepping into the sunflower field, one can surely feel the energy and it serves as an excellent spot for taking photos.

Rose Garden is located in the central lawn. Lavishly planted with over 4,000 roses in 30 different varieties, the garden exudes a strong floral fragrance. Its rich European-style designs feature a floral wall, decorative doors and windows, an arbour arch, garden lighting and distinctively decorated seats  As darkness falls, the garden is beautifully adorned with gentle lighting, thereby creating a fantastic and romantic ambience, which will all leave visitors with a deep impression.

The design concept for this plot is inspired by the classic Journey to the West.  Setting off from the Hing Fat Street entrance, visitors arrive at the Jade Emperor’s Palace by the South Heavenly Gate, where they are greeted by countless dazzling seasonal flowers swaying in breeze.  Rows upon rows of large red lanterns are hung overhead, reminiscent of the fireballs of the Flaming Mountains illuminating the night sky.  Moving along, they come upon topiary in the shape of various magical weapons used by the Monkey King, such as the super powerful banana leaf fan and the cloud that takes him thousands of miles in one somersault, before finally arriving at the majestic North Heavenly Gate.  At nightfall, the parterre is illuminated by special lighting fixtures, glowing with great magnificence and leaving visitors spellbound.

The design concept for this plot is inspired by Arabian folktales.  Among the stories is Aladdin’s magic lamp renowned for its extraordinary potency, capable of bringing to life glittering gems and jewels to bedazzle and beguile the beholder.  Under bright moonlight, the grand and magnificent Arabian palace adds a touch of splendour and elegance to the plot.  More than ten thousand captivating flowers and plants are used to make a photogenic parterre, creating an ideal site for visitors to take selfies and pictures.  Visiting here is just like setting sail and enjoying the wonders of One Thousand and One Nights.  What an exotic and magical adventure.

This year, the Show is held with the theme “Floral Joy Around Town”, featuring the colourful Angelonia as the theme flower.  Angelonia is deeply adored by flower fans.  When in bloom, the racemed Angelonia stands out in riotous hues, reminiscent of scores of angels flying and dancing amid breeze.  The Show will definitely become more joyful, with visitors left spellbound by the intoxicating sea of flowers.

The design concept is inspired by the candy house in a fairy tale, creating a mesmerising world of magic where visitors will feel like they were in a wonderland.

Deep inside the forest is a candy house made of a delightful selection of sweets, gingerbread and desserts. Delectable sweet goodies placed along the footpath offer an irresistible temptation for children to get closer. Facing the candy house stands a gorgeous candy tree with a glittering canopy.

Made up of over 10,000 stunningly pretty flowers and vegetation, the parterre offers visitors a great chance to see attractive adornments in the shape of candies and desserts and the colourful candy house up close, and take photos with candy sculptures.

A supporter of the Hong Kong Flower Show since 2013, the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust became one of the main sponsoring organisations in 2014. Since then, the Trust has subsidised, year after year, a range of activities including the mosaiculture projects by students, with a view to encouraging more active community participation.

The design concept for this plot is inspired by the world-famous fairy tale of “Jack and the Beanstalk”.  Strolling along a mysterious forest trail, visitors will embark on a journey of fantasy, full of surprises and imagination, in pursuit of magnificent wonders. Looking around the garden, one will find splendid giant vines reaching the clouds, elegant harps playing ethereal melodies never heard of in our mortal world, and hens laying golden eggs as a wish for eternal prosperity.  Such dreamlike features help create a wonderland, even more imaginary and magical than the fairy classics.

The theme of this plot is inspired by the fairy tale of “The Wizard of Oz”.  A young girl is whirled by a weird tornado into a wonderland of fantasy, where she meets Scarecrow, Tin Woodman and Lion.  With their dreams in mind, the quad embarks on a journey, first climbing a rainbow-coloured hill, followed by passing through a rainbow arcade reminiscent of drifting clouds, before arriving at the magnificent Land of Seven Colours.  Along the journey, they have experienced the magical power, overcome challenges and eventually fulfilled their dreams thanks to the help from the Wizard of Oz.  The girl sails through the adventure and returns home.

 With “Kids Visit to the Zoological and Botanical Gardens” as its theme, the design of the garden plot aims to allow members of the public to revisit their childhood imagination and innocence.  Passing through a majestic arch, one will enter the magnificent garden reminiscent of a fantastic fairyland, to be greeted by a giant kaleidoscope in the middle which creates magical and mesmerising lighting effects.  The garden also features various animal topiaries, offering a glimpse into a miniature animal kingdom.  Strolling along the Angel’s Corridor full of Angelonia, one can see paintings of animals made with use of artificial intelligence.  Meanwhile, a range of edible plants are grown, which will make foodies’ eyes glitter.  Distinctively innovative in its design, the garden plot offers a perfect blend of art, natural beauty and lighting effects, enabling adults to revisit childhood innocence and children to have great fun.

Greeting spring with a warm embrace! The flower wall featuring kalanchoe, carnation and chrysanthemum in their best colours signals the energy of Hong Kong. Starting fresh and staying vibrant, the flying dragon - the city's brand - moves forward in high spirit against a jubilant backdrop of bright future.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.  The Leisure and Cultural Services Department is most delighted to set up a splendidly colourful floral wall of carnation at the entrance of Hing Fat Street, celebrating such a prominent event in unison with all people in the city.

Where Nature and Architecture Converge

The exhibition presents an integration of the aesthetics of bird's nests, architectural creativity, and the vibrancy of blooming flowers. Displaying structures inspired by bird's nests, the exhibition presents a harmonious fusion with an array of colorful flowers and lush greenery, embodying both a nurturing ground for life and a stage for blossoming. The exhibition highlights sustainability by featuring upcycled timber supplied by the Environmental Protection Department's Yard Waste Recycling Centre Y · PARK. This innovative use of upcycled garden waste emphasizes the reduction of waste production and fosters a green, eco-friendly environment.

“The Blossom Nest” serves as a testament to the beauty and diversity of life, the importance of individual uniqueness, and the critical role of sustainable practices. Echoing this year's theme flower, Angelonia, embodying purity and happiness, we are reminded that true happiness stems from passion for life and contentment, urging us to soar gracefully in search of our unique happiness in this beautiful world.

Civil Engineer Development Department (CEDD) has committed to providing high quality civil engineering services to meet Hong Kong's development needs to create a safe, green and sustainable environment. In celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of CEDD in 2024, we would like to showcase our iconic and quality infrastructure projects as well as our vision, mission and values to the public through our informative and playful Display.

The eye-catching doom looks like a wide-opening eye, symbolizing CEDD as a forward-looking and energetic department. We professionally strive for engineering excellence and creating a safe, green and sustainable environment. There will be a double arch feature embracing the doom.

The design is inspired by our recently completed Tseung Kwan O Cross Bay Link, and the water feature is exquisitely crafted with creativity hinted by our blue-green infrastructure works, such as wetland conservation projects. The colorful and softly textured blossom that comes in varied forms and different plant species not only graces visitor’s circulation but also signifies the importance of vegetation diversity in a built environment. The playful seats showcase our eco-shoreline elements while other display features ingeniously re-use many recycled/upcycled materials that are collected from construction sites to present the importance of balancing development and conservation.

To support the “Night Vibes Hong Kong” campaign, visitors would bliss out by our captivating nightscape that is designed for interactive and multi-sensory experience. Areas around and within our Display are without exception perfect photo spots for selfie by visitors to share the joyful and festive atmosphere with their loved ones. With “Joyful Town Supporting Rehabilitation” as its theme which echoes the theme of the Hong Kong Flower Show 2024 “Floral Joy Around Town”, the Correctional Services Department (CSD) has meticulously designed splendid floral displays to attract visitors and appeal to the public for their support for CSD’s rehabilitation work.  A parterre featuring departmental elements surrounded by colourful blossoms is displayed in the centre of the flower stall to deliver a sense of joy around town.  Creative decorations, including vases made of recycled glass aggregates jointly made by the CSD and students from schools run by the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals are placed around the floral landscape, aiming to promote environmental protection, share the joy with the public and build a harmonious and inclusive Hong Kong together.

The Greening, Landscape and Tree Management Section (GLTMS) of the Development Bureau adopts fairytale "tree houses" as the theme to express the harmonious relationship between humans and plants.  During their visits, the public can peer at a natural and simple "tree house", adorned with floral arrangements and mystical elves, through a window frame with the elements of a bustling city.  Such experience will awaken a longing for an idyllic home environment. Simultaneously, we would like to impart the crucial message of tree conservation to the public.  By personifying tree care professionals "Arborists, Tree Risk Assessors, Tree Work Supervisors, Tree Climbers, and Chainsaw Operators" as mystical elves, the exhibition underscores the indispensable role of proper tree care in preserving the health and sustainability of the urban forest.  It also encourages individuals to pay attention to the growth and well-being of trees in their daily lives.

Moreover, the exhibition booths will feature a range of games designed to help the public better understand the latest developments in urban forestry, and raise their awareness on tree management, with a view to building a better and livable home together.

With the theme of “Sharing in Harmony”, the Drainage Services Department (DSD) showcases their commitments and determination in making their facilities coherent with the surrounding environment and the community to echo with the “single site, multiple use” initiative.  Through strategic spatial planning, greening and upgrading works, DSD’s facilities have well integrated into the community and offered pleasant leisure open spaces for public uses in recent years.

With the use of three dimensional walls of river-liked form, the exhibition display is set into two areas where the front portion represents the leisure open spaces for public uses by having a walking path through a lush and lavish flowering terrain, and bypassing featured displays including a miniature river and an iconic “Drainy” machine.  The rear portion symbolizes the secluded DSD’s facilities in function in our daily lives, and this spatial distinctiveness is made by reflection of flowers in mirrors offering peculiar visual experience in joyous and energetic vibes.  Visitors will travel in between these two distinct areas through the walking path in river form, demonstrating the co-existence of the two entities in unity.

Through demonstrating environmentally friendly technologies for landscaping and agricultural applications, EPD showcases the waste-to-resource concept through a contemporary and futuristic design. The landscape works include colorful Angelonia angustifolia Bent, aquatic plants, water circulation systems, fish tanks, organic fertilizers, recyclable wood walls, recyclable wood chips, biochar and other bonsai arts, etc. Our main installation at the centre is assembled from eight to ten rings, along with lights and running water, as we attempt to immerse audience in multi-layered vegetation, and to create an attractive spot for checking in.

The design makes use of the elements of "wood" and "birds", together with colourful lines interweaving the road network, to introduce to the visitors the "Succeed Sustain Slopescape - Phased Replacement of Senescent Acacia" and the "Thematic Design of Highway Structures" projects of the Highways Department. As visitors travel through the tunnels and roads with blossoming flowers, they can experience the vibrancy infused into the streets of Hong Kong by the two projects, explore the road facilities and infrastructure projects which are closely related to their daily living, as well as enjoy the convenience brought about by the road network and the fun of travelling through it.

Themed on “Well．Being and Happy Green Family”, this Housing Department Garden features a blossoming “Well．Being Corridor” that meanders down the river of time.  The archival images on the upcycled timber displayers along the way depict the historical designs and evolution of public housing, showing to visitors the joint efforts of the Housing Authority (HA) and the community in building a livable home for all over the past 50 years.

Opposite the Corridor stands the “HAppy Family”, a set of fun characters symbolising neighbourliness.  The hopscotch typical to estate playgrounds in the old days brings back fond memories for many residents.  Strolling down the “HAppy Family” arches accompanied by these HAppy Beings is a sure delight.  Through it visitors may get to appreciate the HA’s thoughtfulness in housing design that aims to create a caring and happy neighbourhood on top of a better quality of life for every household.

On the left front side of the garden, the HA’s 3D logo emerges amid a swathe of dazzling flowers arranged in dreamy patterns.  It signifies the “people-oriented” mission of the HA to engage the public in developing happy green homes for the well-being of the community.

It is mesmerising to witness the profound beauty of forests and hills, thanks to the prosperous coexistence of diverse things and the mutual enrichment of nature.  Ocean Park Hong Kong uses the plants native to Hong Kong to create this plot, beautifully adorned with Angelonia, the theme flower of the Flower Show.  The plot is flanked by two topiaries in the shape of adorable giant pandas, highlighting the spirit in which animals and vegetation thrive harmoniously.  When creating the plot, we specially use long bamboos to offer contrast in beauty and splendour with flowers in bloom, while hanging various plant pots on bamboo branches to showcase the diversity of species.  Let us work in unison to lead a green life and protect our nature, in accompany of Whiskers & Friends.

The design of the major body of the floral display is inspired by Hua Dan, a young female character in Peking operas, our cultural gem, with the phoenix crown on head.  A fan surface and water sleeves are the major elements running through the whole display, which is decorated with such elements as the auspicious cloud and peony patterns created by enamel paints, showcasing the artistic glamour of the Chinese traditional culture.

Angelonia, the theme flower for this year's Flower Show, represents innocence, bravery and hope, all of which are in line with the spirit of creation behind Claude Monet's masterpiece "The Water Lily Pond". Our design is largely based on this painting. Meanwhile, the word "lotus" sounds the same as "unity" in Chinese, making us associate the plant with the idea of developing unity and close cooperation between people in both Guangzhou and Hong Kong. Our plot mainly features the bridge depicted in "The Water Lily Pond", adorned by splendid flowers and lush vegetation to create a lively and transient ambience. There are also large mirror installations to reflect light of the lily pond. How charming it is to witness the profound beauty of the plot.

Marvelling at the Essence of Hangzhou and Beauty of West Lake

Whether in sunshine or in rain, Hangzhou holds visitors spellbound by the great scenic beauty of its mountains and waters.  The city also boasts the rich elegance of the Jiangnan region and the exquisite craftsmanship being passed down across generations.  Facing the West Lake and backed by emerald mountains, Hangzhou thrives and flourishes, rises to prominence and gets its soul, all thanks to the Lake.  The beautiful landscapes of the West Lake and its cultural connotations not only never lose their lustre, but also help transcend eternity.  The design concept of this display is inspired by the scenic and cultural landscapes of the West Lake, with reference made to the “Chronicles of the West Lake”, with a view to showcasing the ten views of the West Lake.  A range of techniques such as floral arrangements, living green sculpture and floral border setting were employed in a flexible manner to depict the beauty of the West Lake.  In addition, native plants such as Acer palmatum, various species of azaleas and witch hazel were extensively planted to highlight the uniqueness of the region.  Meanwhile, the sensor-based lighting effect devices were installed to enhance the dynamism of the display, thereby creating a lively and colourful atmosphere.

Glam camping has recently been in vogue in Shanghai. This work mainly features a glamping tent under trees, which is being decorated with soft carpets and having dim lighting. Enjoying coffee under the tree shades and chatting idly around a fire, people regain inner peace by embracing nature. It is impressive to see the lawn with splendid flowers, while several native animals can be found at the corner.  Such a design demonstrates a popular natural living space to showcase people’s affinity with and penchant for embracing nature, while reflecting Shanghai’s efforts to build urban ecological infrastructure for use and enjoyment by the public.

The exhibit garden of the Shenzhen Municipality features mangroves as the theme in its presentation of landscape art installations, underscoring the seamless interconnectedness of natural spaces in Shenzhen and Hong Kong, the GBA’s commitment to ecological conservation, as well as the efforts in creating green spaces across Shenzhen and the GBA. There are two meandering bodies of water running through the exhibit, that eventually converge as one, signifying the fact that Shenzhen is inextricably linked to Hong Kong despite being on opposite shores. Set in the centre of the exhibit are two pieces of art installations in the shape of mangroves, representing the two important wetlands in Hong Kong and Shenzhen. Visitors walking through the installations can take a look at the massive and strong prop roots of the mangrove trees, thereby deeply understanding that mangroves stand tall and proud to provide shelter for other species despite waves hitting them. Let us safeguard the ecosystem and ensure the stability and prosperity of the GBA in unison with mangroves.

The Macao Garden, with its design inspired by our famous landmark “Senado Square”, showcases Macao’s impressive prosperity, while symbolising its poetic scenes and unique combination of eastern and western cultures.  The overall layout of the Macao Garden consists of a trapezoid plaza, flanked by steel structures of European architectural style.  In the centre of the plaza stands an artificial fountain, and the planters on its both sides are lavishly planted with cherry blossom trees, Angelonia and a variety of flowers, in a bid to offer varying degrees of aesthetic appeal.  Besides, the gurgling fountain and riotously coloured flowers not only fit well with the theme of the flower show “Floral Joy Around Town” but also accentuate Macao’s unique charm and allure.
