Athlete Selection of Mass Participation events

Introduction of the Mass Participation Events of the National Games

The National Games (NG) will be organised by the General Administration of Sport of China and participated by athletes from different provinces and municipalities, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Macao Special Administrative Region.  The 15th NG include both competition events and mass participation events. There will be 34 competition events and 23 mass participation events, with the latter covering 19 sports for competition and four sports for demonstration. According to the general rules and regulations of the mass participation events, the HKSAR Delegation will be exempted from the preliminary rounds and granted direct entry to the finals.

The mass participation events cover 19 sports for competition, including table tennis, badminton, tennis, football, basketball, light volleyball, shuttlecock, roller sports, dragon boating, go, Chinese chess, chess, bridge, Chinese wrestling, orienteering, karate, gateball, modelling and bowling; and four sports for demonstration, including health qigong, tai chi, dragon and lion dancing, and broadcast gymnastics.

Awards

1. The top three winners of each sport for competition will be awarded gold, silver and bronze medals respectively while the top eight athletes will also be presented with certificates.
2. For each sport for demonstration, there will be one First Prize, three Second Prizes and four Third Prizes, and winners will be presented with certificates and medals.
3. Winners of awards for outstanding organisations in mass participation events of the 15th National Games (for regions and participating units) will be presented with plaques.
4. All athletes who have participated in the finals will be presented with e-certificates of participation.

Athlete Selection

To uphold the NG’s ideal of “benefit ordinary people, make a healthy China (全運惠民，健康中國)”, relevant national sports associations/organisations will conduct free-of-charge athlete selections or objective technical tests to assess the skill level of athletes, so as to select eligible athletes to represent the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in the mass participation events of the 15th NG.
