The 15th National Games (NG), the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities (NGD) and the 9th National Special Olympic Games (NSOG) will be held in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao from 9 to 21 November and from 8 to 15 December 2025 respectively. The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) set up the Organising Committee (OC) of the HKSAR Delegations to the 15th NG, the 12th NGD and the 9th NSOG on 5 December 2024, with the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) assuming the Secretariat duties.
Co-chaired by Mr Timothy FOK, President of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC), and Mrs Jenny FUNG, President of the China Hong Kong Paralympic Committee, the OC consists of members from the SF&OC, the sports sector, the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau and the LCSD. An Executive Committee (EC) and an Appeal Board are set up under the OC to take forward the various specific tasks for the formation of the delegations and handle appeals relating to selection. Regarding the EC, meetings are chaired by the Vice-chairman of the OC and Chairman of the Elite Sports Committee. To extensively solicit views of people from different backgrounds, the EC comprises some of the OC members, experienced representatives of sports organisations, and retired athletes.
This is the eighth time for the HKSAR to send delegations to take part in the NG since its first participation in 1997. In the last edition of the NG, the Hong Kong athletes won two gold and five bronze medals despite the challenges posed by the epidemic. Furthermore, the HKSAR has thus far participated in seven editions of the NGD and five editions of the NSOG. In the 11th NGD, the Hong Kong athletes won a total of 17 medals, including 10 gold, one silver and six bronze medals, while in the 7th NSOG, they won a total of 42 medals, including 25 gold, nine silver and eight bronze medals.
