Two types of advisers have been appointed to assist in policy and operational matters pertaining to the provision of cultural services.

Community Advisers: Three streams of 49 Community Advisers provide general advice to the department on the provision of facilities and services involving the performing arts, libraries and museums. These advisers include experts, professionals and community leaders experienced in the promotion of cultural services in Hong Kong.

Expert Advisers: A total of 203 advisers, split into nine categories offer advice on the provision of performing arts programmes, the literary arts and museological activities. The advisers include artists, academics and other practitioners who have made significant contributions in their respective fields.
