Since its inauguration on 16th January 1987, Sha Tin Town Hall has become the premier performance venue and a major cultural landmark in the New Territories East. It brings facility improvements, provides innovative equipment and presents a wide array of quality and creative programmes of local and overseas arts groups. Over the years, the Town Hall has become a popular hub among art lovers across the territory. In celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2022, each of the five performance venues in the New Territories featured outstanding arts groups in a carnival around the theme My Home My Place to share love, hope and joy. To mark the 35th anniversary of Sha Tin Town Hall, the 25 • 35 Performing Arts Carnival was held on 31st July to herald a myriad of celebration activities, including free performances of dance, music, musical and shadow puppetry by different local troupes, interactive workshops for the whole family, and “Into the EKCC: Experiencing the Optical Tracking Camera System", which allowed visitors to experience the application of arts tech. Sha Tin Town Hall also held a series of exciting celebration programmes for the public. Last but not least, the website of Sha Tin Town Hall also features an online exhibition entitled Stay Arts with Arts to share with all the joy of the 35th anniversary and capture every fabulous moment.
